Static electricity generated by friction has long been recognized; however, the magnitude and consistency of the electric charge produced on everyday materials such as latex balloons have rarely been evaluated quantitatively. Different rubbing materials were expected to produce different levels of static electric charge. This study aimed to examine the effect of different rubbing materials on the strength of the static electric charge generated on latex balloons and to identify the rubbing material that produced the strongest charge. The experiment employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor consisting of three treatment levels: human hair (P1), nylon/parachute fabric (P2), and wool/sweater fabric (P3). Each treatment was replicated five times. Each balloon was rubbed 25 times in one direction and then positioned 5 cm away from a tissue paper strip measuring 2 × 5 cm. The duration for which the tissue adhered to the balloon (seconds) was recorded and analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings demonstrated that the type of rubbing material significantly determined the effectiveness of triboelectric charge generation on latex balloons
