Abstract

A reliable and integrated security system is necessary to maintain the security and
privacy of residents, providing a sense of security and comfort in their living
environment. Threats such as theft, vandalism, and other criminal acts underscore
the need for more sophisticated security solutions. A residential portal security
system that uses ultrasonic sensors to detect incoming vehicles and a camera module
to take a picture of the vehicle's license plate. This system is designed to increase
security and efficiency in managing access to housing, as well as facilitate residents
in and out of parking areas using license plate recognition technology. With this
system vehicles located in residential areas tiban 1 will be safer because the portal
on this system can only be open if the license plate is registered in the database and
this system uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology that is able to read
the license plate accurately. The system works well in opening the portal
automatically when a registered vehicle is detected. This process takes about 10
seconds from the recording of the license plate until the command to open the portal
is sent to the servo motor. From the tests carried out, the system managed to
recognize 9 out of 10 vehicle license plates with an accuracy rate of 90%. This shows
that the license plate recognition technology used in this system, which involves the
ESP8266 camera and microcontroller, works very effectively and efficiently.
